The perfect crispy snack with a kick of spice!
Sympli Ripe Plantain Chops
For best results cook from frozen. Deep fry at 180 °C (356 °F) for 3 mins, or oil brush, place on an aluminium sheet or non-stick tray and bake at 225 °C (437 °F) for 7 to 8 minutes.
If deep frying, use a large, deep and stable pot. Fill with oil (slightly less than ½ pot) to cover the product to arrive at a uniform golden colour.
Next heat the oil but do not allow the oil to start smoking. To test the temperature of the oil, use a pair of tongs and carefully place one piece inside, it should sizzle and float. For best results do not add too much product at once as that will drop the oil temperature and stop the product from becoming crispy.
After frying place in paper towel lined bowl to remove excess oil, salt & serve.
Do not add too much oil to the pot as once the product is added it will also raise the level of oil in the pot. Ensure the oil and product do not pass 2/3 of the pot. Take care not to leave oil pan on fire unsupervised, to prevent injury from oil splashing remove any water/ice with towel from product before deep frying, turn pot handles away from the front of the cooker to avoid knocking while frying, keep kitchen child free when frying.
